About Me

I’m Rod Cardenete, a Spanish guy living in Beijing, China. I’ve been working in digital agency in Barcelona, Spain for some years before to come to China in 2009. As you can see in my portfolio, I’ve worked for some notorious brands, and for some others that are pretty unknown. Some internationals, some other locals, both in Europe and China. In this Asian country I’ve been also involved in offline projects, specially branding, illustration, typography, events, etc, in the Branding and Ad agency Schwann, where I work as Creative Director.

This website is the place where I am dropping all the projects I am involved now and others I have been involved in the last years. Not everything is commercial, not everything personal. There are some missing projects here that, for one reason or another I never decided to publish.  The aim is to help visitors to understand at first glance what I do, what I like, and what I’m interested in.

 

SKILLS

Management skills: Creative Direction, Digital Campaigns, Creative Proposals, Concept Design, Production Management, Client Presentations, Team Leadership, and Trend Research.

Technical skills: Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Flash animation, Flash programming (Actionscript), Photography, Film Shooting, Editing, Compositing (After Effects), Storyboarding, Web development (PHP, Drupal, WordPress), Mobile Development (iOS), Social Media platforms.

Plus Keynote, which I don’t know wether is a Technical or Management skill.

 

In my opinion, the age of the Big Idea is past. Now, an efficient Advertising or Marketing must be based in Innovation instead of insisting in slogans. People will always love a good story, but they will expect it in a different format than a few years ago, so it’s time to reinvent Storytelling as well. People love technology and New Media. And yes, they start to hate TV too.

Now I am excited about exploring the possibilities of Social Media and Mobile. In my opinion, even digital agencies must evolve to the next step in communication; the future is less computers and more mobile, less message spreading and more social interaction. Actually, the next big tech boom is bringing Social Media and Mobile together.

These are the reasons I love Technology, Stories and Conversations.
